Detailed itinerary

Day 1: Arrival Nairobi JKIA – Nairobi
Welcome to Kenya! After arrival our representative will transfer you to the Ibis Styles Hotel in Nairobi for overnight on bed and breakfast basis.

Day 2: Nairobi – Meru National Park
After an early breakfast you depart from Nairobi passing through the agricultural farmlands en-route to Meru National Park. Make a stopover at the equator for a photo and demonstration on how water spins North and South of the equator. Game drive en-route to the camp where you arrive in time for lunch. Spend the afternoon at leisure before you go for an afternoon game drive.

Mealplan: Breakfast, lunch, dinner

Day 3: Meru National Park
Meru National Park is a forest reserve and one of Kenya’s lesser known parks. The park is most known for the story of Elsa the Lioness, made famous in the book Born Free. Meru forms part of a complex of protected areas along the Tana River and it straddles the equator in the central part of the country. Later proceed for an afternoon game drive before you return to the camp for dinner followed by overnight.

Mealplan: Breakfast, lunch, dinner

Day 4: Meru National Park – Samburu National Reserve
Continue your safari into the Samburu National Reserve – a haven of beauty and peace in semi-arid land, rugged landscape and majestic surroundings. Lunch will be served at the camp. Later proceed for an afternoon game drive before you return to the Samburu Intrepids Camp for dinner followed by overnight.

Mealplan: Breakfast, lunch, dinner

Day 5: Samburu National Reserve
Today an early morning game drive searching for the animals that make this reserve so unique; the long-necked generuk, reticulated giraffe and grevy’s zebra. Besides the other wildlife, the Samburu Game Reserve (together with its neighbouring reserves Shaba and Buffalo Springs) offers some of the most beautiful bird life in Kenya. Return to the camp for a well-earned lunch and enjoy the facilities (there is a pool!) and optional activities on offer. Later proceed for an afternoon game drive before you return to Samburu Intrepids Camp for dinner followed by overnight.

Mealplan: Breakfast, lunch, dinner

Day 6: Samburu National Reserve – Ol Pejeta Conservancy
For this day we planned a day tour (with packed lunch) to the Ol Pejeta Conservancy. This private wildlife conservancy is safeguarding some of the most vulnerable wildlife in the world (and the only place in Kenya to see chimpanzees; in a sanctuary). It also boasts the largest black rhino sanctuary in East Africa, and in 2013 reached a population milestone of 100 black rhinos. Besides the rhino, the reserve also hosts all the other members of the ‘Big Five’ (elephant, lion, buffalo and leopard). Go on a game drive venture out there for close encounters, and if you are lucky you might even spot the endangered African wild dogs.

Mealplan: Breakfast, lunch, dinner

Day 7: Ol Pejeta Conservancy – Nairobi
Enjoy a last morning gamed drive within the conservancy before heading back to Nairobi. Along the way we will stop at the Trout Tree Restaurant. This restaurant is built in and around a huge Mugumo (Sacred fig) tree and offers some tasteful meals (not included in the tour price). Later on, we will bring you to the Tamarind Tree Hotel in Nairobi for overnight on bed and breakfast basis.

The hotel is just a short nature walk from the famous Carnivore Restaurant, a true African dining experience (reservation required, dinner not included).

Mealplan: Breakfast, lunch, dinner

Day 8: Nairobi – Morning flight to Masai Mara Reserve
Today you will be transferred to Nairobi Wilson airport where you will catch your (shared) charter flight to Masai Mara. Upon arrival you will be awaited up by your guide who will take you – with a game drive en-route – to the Ilkeliani Mara Camp.

Mealplan: Breakfast, lunch, dinner

Day 9: Masai Mara Reserve
Exciting morning/afternoon drives or a full day game drive through the rolling grasslands and wide-open spaces in search of wildlife of the Maasai Mara eco-system. You may even have the exciting opportunity to spot the phenomenal annual wildebeest migration, depending on the time of year you choose to visit. The Masai Mara is home to approximately 25% of Kenya’s wildlife and is considered Kenya’s finest wildlife sanctuary. Including migrants, well over 450 species of animals have been recorded here.

Mealplan: Breakfast, lunch, dinner

Day 10: Road transfer to Nairobi
After breakfast it is time to collect your things and prepare to continue your journey back to Nairobi (arrival late afternoon). Lunch and/or dinner not included. We will bring you to the Nairobi international airport where you may relax as you await your international flight departure.

Mealplan: Breakfast only
