Detailed itinerary

Day 1: Arrival Nairobi JKIA – Nairobi
Welcome to Kenya! After arrival our representative will transfer you to the Ibis Styles Hotel in Nairobi for overnight on bed and breakfast basis.

Day 2: Nairobi
Today an easy start. After breakfast our driver will bring you to the leafy suburbs of Karen, named after Karen Blixen, the Danish author of the colonial memoir Out of Africa; her farm occupied the land where the suburb now stands.

In this area you will visit the David Sheldrick Elephant Trust, the most successful orphan-elephant rescue and rehabilitation program in East Africa. Later on go to the nearby Giraffe Centre. This is a very unique place to see, feed, handle and even kiss the tallest animal species; giraffe. We will bring you to one of the nearby restaurants for lunch (not included). Before heading back to the hotel, we will also pass by Kazuri Beads and the pottery workshop. The hotel has a rooftop restaurant that offers nice views of Nairobi (dinner not included).

Mealplan: Breakfast only

Day 3: Nairobi – Lake Nakuru National Park
After an early breakfast you depart from Nairobi heading to the Lake Nakuru National Park (approx. 3hrs driving). Start exploring the wooded and bushy grassland of the beautiful park. The lake was known for its many flamingos but because of the high-water level) most are currently diverted to other lakes. However, still there are approx. 400 other species of birds visiting the lake. Also, many species of game can be found in the park including the introduced Rothschild’s giraffe, black and white rhino, waterbuck, reedbuck, lion, buffalo, leopard, baboon and many species of plains game. In the afternoon proceed to the Pelican Lodge situated along the shores of Lake Elementaita.

Mealplan: Breakfast, lunch, dinner

Day 4: Lake Elementaita – Lake Naivasha
Leave the lodge mid-morning and enjoy a scenic route (with views of Mount Longonot) to the nearby Lake Naivasha. This fresh water lake is one of the Great Rift Valley’s jewels, reflecting the tranquil beauty of an African sky and the surrounding mountains. Arrive for lunch followed by a 1-hour boat ride on the lake. This a good way to explore the lake with unique chances of seeing hippos and different species of birds.

You will stay at Camp Carnelleys in a lake front banda; these eco-friendly banda’s are basic, but comfortable.

Mealplan: Breakfast, lunch, dinner

Day 5: Hell’s Gate National Park + One Hour Boat Ride
Today you will take your bikes and ride to Hells Gate National Park. This is a unique park where walking/riding is done in the middle of wildlife like giraffes, zebras, warthogs and many types of gazelles. In this tiny park there is also a gorge that can be visited by foot. Upon return at the camp you can relax and unwind.

Mealplan: Breakfast, lunch, dinner

Day 6: Lake Naivasha – Masai Mara
Leave the camp from where the next stop is in Narok town; the main trading town for Narok County and also your last town before getting into renowned Masai Mara eco system. Game drive en-route to the camp where you arrive in time for lunch.

Visit a local Masai village (Manyatta) where you will spend time with the Masai gaining an insight into their lives and their culture. You may get the opportunity to milk sheep and the goats, watch as they bleed the cows, join the women in jewelry making, try your hand at making fire the old-fashioned way with nothing but sticks – the climax of all this is participating in a Masai dance!

Mealplan: Breakfast, lunch, dinner

Day 7 & 8: Masai Mara Reserve
Exciting morning/afternoon or full day game drives through the rolling grasslands and wide-open spaces in search of wildlife of the Maasai Mara eco-system. You may even have the exciting opportunity to spot the phenomenal annual wildebeest migration, depending on the time of year you choose to visit. The Masai Mara is home to approximately 25% of Kenya’s wildlife and is considered Kenya’s finest wildlife sanctuary. Including migrants, well over 450 species of animals have been recorded here.

For these days, you can discuss your final program with your guide. In the evening dinner and overnight at Enkorok Mara Camp.

Mealplan: Breakfast, lunch, dinner
