Detailed itinerary

Day 1: Arrival Nairobi JKIA – Nairobi
Welcome to Kenya! After arrival our representative will transfer you to the Ibis Styles Hotel in Nairobi for overnight on bed and breakfast basis.

Day 2: Nairobi – Aberdare National Park
Leave Nairobi mid-morning in northern direction passing through the agricultural farmlands en-route to the Aberdare Country Club. This homestead is nestled on a slope of Mweiga Hill in the Aberdare Highlands. Enjoy a tasteful lunch and proceed to the next door Aberdare National Park with a game drive en-route. You may chance upon various monkeys, such as the Colobus and Vervet monkeys, for whom the park is an ideal habitat. In the evening dinner and overnight at The Ark Lodge.

Mealplan: Breakfast only

Day 3: Ol Pejeta Conservancy (overnight in Nanyuki)
For this day we planned a day tour (with packed lunch) to the Ol Pejeta Conservancy. This private wildlife conservancy is safeguarding some of the most vulnerable wildlife in the world (and the only place in Kenya to see chimpanzees; in a sanctuary). It also boasts the largest black rhino sanctuary in East Africa, and in 2013 reached a population milestone of 100 black rhinos. Besides the rhino, the reserve also hosts all the other members of the ‘Big Five’ (elephant, lion, buffalo and leopard). Go on a game drive venture out there for close encounters, and if you are lucky you might even spot the endangered African wild dogs.

Mealplan: Breakfast, lunch, dinner

Day 4: Nanyuki – Lake Nakuru National Park
Leave Nanyuki and head to the Lake Nakuru National Park (approx. 5hrs driving). Start exploring the wooded and bushy grassland of the beautiful park. The lake was known for its many flamingos but because of the high-water level) most are currently diverted to other lakes. However, still there are approx. 400 other species of birds visiting the lake. Also, many species of game can be found in the park including the introduced Rothschild’s giraffe, black and white rhino, waterbuck, reedbuck, lion, buffalo, leopard, baboon and many species of plains game.

Mealplan: Breakfast and lunch

Day 5: Lake Nakuru National Park – Lake Naivasha
Game drive en-route when leaving Lake Nakuru and enjoy scenic route (with views of Mount Longonot) to the nearby Lake Naivasha. This fresh water lake is one of the Great Rift Valley’s jewels, reflecting the tranquil beauty of an African sky and the surrounding mountains.

Arrive for lunch at a boutique hotel on the north side of the lake. This beautiful hotel is set within a private wildlife sanctuary surrounded by savannah grassland which is home to various plain games. In the afternoon a 1-hour boat ride is planned. This a good way to explore the lake with unique chances of seeing hippos and different species of birds.

Mealplan: Breakfast, lunch, dinner

Day 6: Lake Naivasha (walk on Crescent Island)
Today an alternative to spending the day in a car: we have planned for a walking safari in the middle of Lake Naivasha at the Crescent Island Game Conservancy. This island is home to zebra, giraffe, bushbuck, impala, waterbuck, gnu and numerous other prey species. The island lacks predators, so it is easy to navigate within and among animals that are normally quite wary of us. The rest of the afternoon you can enjoy the facilities and optional activities on offer at the hotel.

Mealplan: Breakfast, lunch, dinner

Day 7: Lake Naivasha – Masai Mara National Park
Leave the camp from where the next stop is in Narok town; the main trading town for Narok County and also your last town before getting into renowned Masai Mara eco system. Game drive en-route to the camp where you arrive in time for lunch. Spend the afternoon at leisure and enjoy an afternoon game drive in the reserve. In the evening dinner and overnight at Ilkeliani Mara Camp.

For these days, you can discuss your final program with your guide. In the evening dinner and overnight at Enkorok Mara Camp.

Mealplan: Breakfast, lunch, dinner

Day 8: Masai Mara
Exciting morning/afternoon drives or a full day game drive through the rolling grasslands and wide-open spaces in search of wildlife of the Maasai Mara eco-system. You may even have the exciting opportunity to spot the phenomenal annual wildebeest migration, depending on the time of year you choose to visit. The Masai Mara is home to approximately 25% of Kenya’s wildlife and is considered Kenya’s finest wildlife sanctuary. Including migrants, well over 450 species of animals have been recorded here.

Mealplan: Breakfast, lunch, dinner

Day 9: Masai Mara – Nairobi
After breakfast it is time to collect your things and prepare to continue your journey back to Nairobi (arrival late afternoon). Lunch and/or dinner not included. We will bring you to the Nairobi international airport where you may relax as you await your international flight departure.

Mealplan: Breakfast only
